This tiny backyard went from a grassy hill to an eco-friendly outdoor living space.

As soon as Samantha bought her house, she knew she wanted to do more with her grassy patch in the back. The basement rooms let out into a small yard that backs up against trees, but the hill was steep and thus there was no way to spend time there. Together we concepted an eco-friendly outdoor entertaining space. Now guests can chill next to the fire pit or sit and gaze at the rain garden while visiting with local birds and butterflies.

“When I first spoke to Rob and Sasha they immediately started brainstorming ideas that would work with my space and budget, instead of trying to make my space and budget work with their ideas. To me that was the difference between Charmscapes and other landscapers I’d talked to. I was blown away by the creative and beautiful design they came up with, and thrilled by the environmentally friendly aspect they brought to both the design and construction. To say that my expectations were exceeded by the final result is an understatement, I truly could not be happier with the stunning space Rob, Hank, and Sasha have created for me!”

Features

Stone Patio & Terraced Garden

The steep slope to the original backyard made it hard to enjoy without rolling down the hill. We terraced the backyard and added stairs and a stone patio, making it easy to add furniture and move around.

Rain Garden

Sam wanted her yard to be eco-friendly so we created a rain garden to capture and filter stormwater runoff. In addition to the environmental benefits, the garden is low-maintenance, creates a habitat for birds and butterflies, and eliminates the possibility of standing water, thus reducing mosquitos.

Fire Pit & Custom Seating

In this small backyard we saved space by creating a narrow bench with storage, a counter that covers the AC unit and gas fire pit so folks can sit, put down their drink and warm up as they view the garden.
